Prior to his election to office, and even before he worked in government, Councilmember O’Farrell was a passionate and dedicated neighborhood activist. For many years, he volunteered on behalf of his community, including establishing one of the City’s first certified neighborhood councils. He has always believed in the importance of bringing City services directly to the communities they serve.

In this spirit, upon taking office, Councilmember O’Farrell established his“Councilmember In Your Corner”series, or “CYC”. As of August 2021, he has held 73 CYCs in every corner of the 13th District.

CYCs generally occur on a monthly basis and include:

A neighborhood walk, led by Councilmember O’Farrell, to connect with residents and provide information on City resources

A community cleanup conducted by neighborhood volunteers, staff from Councilmember O’Farrell’s office, and the 13th District Clean Team

A beautification project conducted by City department(s) or contractors, such as tree trimming or graffiti removal
